LABELMAKER Bio:
A fusion of indie and hip-hop, the band LABELMAKER began in 2009 as the high school home-recording project of Elijah Quincy Skolfield, a longtime musician and recording artist beginning to participate in poetry slams. LABELMAKER served as a midway point between these two disciplines, at the intersection of sound and language. In early 2010 he enlisted close friends and classmates, a group of state-ranking, award winning musicians, to realize LABELMAKER’s live incarnation, following the blueprint of the classic teenage rock band. Performing in Omaha, Nebraska alongside local bands including Sun Settings, The Razors, The Dads, Seawife, Wo Demon, and the Howl, LABELMAKER capably entertained audiences with tight sets, featuring diverse musicianship, rich instrumentation, and an idiosyncratic combination of rapping and singing. LABELMAKER played a series of concerts, mostly suburban house shows, before disbanding, when its members scattered across the country for college. LABELMAKER has also created “instrumental beats” for a diverse group of rap artists. Currently in the process releasing its back catalog, gearing up for a twenty-teens reboot of its live show.
